How to plan an epic trip in 2 weeks vacation

The average American job will give you two weeks of vacation each year, for better or worse. The time may seem a little sparse compared to Europeans who enjoy their six-week-to-three-month vacations every year.

You can still do so many things with two weeks of vacation, even though the hours are changing. It is important to plan ahead in order to make the most of your 2 weeks. You can even extend your time if you are a bit creative.

These are my top tips to make the most out of your vacation days and get the most from your two weeks!

Plan Ahead

Did you know that planning trips can make us feel the most happy? This is a great way to boost your health and get out of a rut at the office.

It is amazing to feel the anticipation and excitement when you start looking at all of your options and look through photos of potential destinations.

It’s not just fun to plan well, but it’s essential. Planning in detail will allow you to make the most of every moment. Although plans may change, it is best to be prepared.

You should decide what you want and where you want it to be. This will help you organize your plans and make sure you don’t waste any time.

Piggyback on Federal Holidays

Public holidays are often at the beginning or end of the week. If you travel on Mondays or Fridays, when the office is closed, you can add an extra day to your vacation. Plus, think about all the weekend days that you might be able to take advantage of.

These are some holidays you might be interested in for 2020.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, January 20
  • Presidents Day Monday, February 17
  • Memorial Day Monday, May 25,
  • Labor Day Monday, September 7

In 2020, Christmas falls on Friday! It is a wonderful holiday to spend at home but there are amazing destinations across America that are at their best during Christmas. Start a family tradition of having a Christmas Eve dinner and opening gifts on Christmas Day. Then, head out to a relaxing getaway.

Take care of your flights

You can maximize your travel options by finding the best flight deals. It’s important to keep things simple when you have only two weeks. It’s not a good idea to waste your precious vacation time by spending 12 hours at the airport.

Layovers are sometimes a good idea. Layovers can be a great way to explore two places in one trip if you plan well. A long stopover can be made in a place you are interested in exploring. This is similar to getting two flights at the same time.

Locate a Hotel in a Prime Place

Staying in the heart is another way to maximize your time. You will not find the best deals on Airbnbs or hotels in the outskirts, but you will pay more for lost time and transportation costs.

You will be able to live in the centre of the city and not lose one moment of commute time.

Divide your Time

There are many ways to take your vacation time, depending on where you’re going.

You will need to travel for two weeks if you plan to explore Europe. This is true for backpacking Southeast Asia and any other far-flung destinations.

You could also easily make four to six trips per year if you are looking to travel North America.

A long weekend getaway is a great way to unwind. Here are a few of my favorites! You will feel refreshed and ready for the next adventure when you return. You could take a three-day road trip along the California coast.

These are some helpful tips

Unpaid time off is often allowed by many companies. Although there are rules regarding how long you can take off before losing benefits, many bosses will allow you to take some days of unpaid vacation if you only have five vacation days.

Also, it is worth looking into if you have any flexibility in your schedule. You can be flexible if your work isn’t dependent on a specific place at a certain time. What if you had to work for 12 consecutive days, weekends included? Could you take a six day extended weekend to visit a distant destination?

Did you know that over half of American workers take less than seven days off per year? Even worse? What’s even more sad?

Although American culture encourages a strong work ethic it doesn’t mean that you will be more productive if you just log hours. You need to be able to take some time off and explore the world. This will help you grow, prosper, and feel happy.
