What are the Most Important Things to Look For in a Tour Company

Since I began hosting my TBA Escapes Tours I have learned so much about the industry and travel. Although the majority of my experience has been positive and inspirational, there have been significant learning curves when it comes running a business.

Whether you are considering joining TBA Escapes, or any other tour, it is important to do your research thoroughly before you part with your hard-earned cash.

These are some important points to consider when looking for a tour company.

Who are They?

Once you have found the tour you are interested in, you can start to dig up the details. It is important to discover the identities of the people behind the company and confirm that they are actually real.

If you don’t see an about page that includes the founder’s biography on it, then log onto LinkedIn to find their profile. To find out more about the founder, you can Google their name and review them.

It is also a good idea to research any other people involved in the tour. You want to ensure that everyone involved in the tour, from the hosts to the operations managers, is knowledgeable and reliable.

How long have they been in business?

A company that has been in business for a long time is more likely to be trustworthy and not a scam. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try new tour companies. We all need to start somewhere.

You can also check if the travel agency is accredited to confirm that they are legitimate.

Are They Using Their Own Images?

As I mentioned, I was recently contacted by a company that used my photos to promote their new tour in Morocco. Google’s reverse image search tool is a great way to check if a company uses stock photos or has stolen images from another account.

The authenticity of a tour company can be shown by user-generated content. This is photos taken by tour participants. You can also reach out to these accounts to ask about their experiences.

Keep in mind: Be cautious if the reviews aren’t reliable. It’s possible for anyone to pose as a tour operator by taking other people’s content and using their original photos. This is why it’s so important to verify that these people are genuine before you travel to any new destination.

What are the Demographics for Their Guests?

It’s a great way to make long-lasting friends and meet fellow travelers on tours. After you have found a legitimate tour company, look into the demographics of their guests.

Are the tours targeted at 18-25-year olds or 35-45 year-olds? Are there any reviews left by those who have had similar experiences?

Consider your age, the size of the tour and gender. To determine if a tour is suitable for your needs, you will need to research it.

Is there free time?

Many tours can feel overwhelming if you don’t have enough “me” time. If the itinerary doesn’t specify, ask the right questions to determine how much time it will take to do your thing.

You don’t need to feel like you have enough. There are many tours that allow you to travel wherever you like, while still allowing you to have complete freedom.

What is included in the trip cost?

Some tours include all-inclusives, while others just include breakfast. The price of the tour is affected by this. Look at the inclusions if the price seems too high. A lot of costs are not included in tours that appear cheap.

An all-inclusive trip, on the other hand, will let you know the exact cost of the entire trip.

Remember: International airfare is not included in most tours. Before booking, make sure to check the prices between destinations.

How does payment setup work?

Are you able to pay by installments? Some tours offer one, but not all. This can make or break your decision. Before you sign up, make sure to review the cancellation policy as well as all payment information.

If you’re not 100% sure that the tour is right for you, you shouldn’t commit to any amount.

Is this the right tour for me?

Always ask yourself what you want from a tour before booking it. Do you want to learn new skills? Are you looking to spend a lot of time at the beach? Do you want an adventure vacation that will push you to the limits?

You don’t want your money to be spent in an environment that makes you uncomfortable or doesn’t make you feel valued.

You can find a variety of group tours all over the globe, from backpacker-style travels for younger people to luxury tours for older travelers. Perhaps you’re looking for an educational or immersive retreat that helps you learn more about a particular destination or activity, such as a photography tour or liveaboard scuba diving.

Do You Have Testimonials?

Finally, I read all the testimonials about the company. To form an opinion, you need to read what others have to say.

One unhappy customer does not mean that you should stop booking with them. If multiple customers are complaining about the same issues (like poor communication or bad logistics), you may want to reconsider booking with them.

It’s a great way to meet new people and learn new skills, as well as create memorable memories. Make sure you do your research so that you don’t regret the experience.
